Maximum temperatures will rise significantly in mainland Portugal from Wednesday onwards, with increases of 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in some locations, according to the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). The rise will be gradual but sharp, occurring on August 2nd and 3rd, Wednesday and Thursday.
In some regions, such as the Tagus Valley, Beira Baixa and Alentejo, maximum temperatures could reach 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. In other areas of the country, the increases will be more moderate, ranging between 6 and 8 degrees.
IPMA indicates that along the coast, the temperature rises will be lower compared to the interior of the territory. The forecast points to a continuation of hot weather in the following days, although the information is incomplete at the end of the article.
