Toffoli removes from the agenda the judgment of the registration of Renan Santos' candidacy

cbn30 August 2026 at 18:07

The minister of the Superior Electoral Court, Dias Toffoli, removed from the agenda the judgment of the registration of Renan Santos' candidacy, from Missão, for the presidency of the Republic. The case would be analyzed this Monday in the virtual plenary.

In the decision, Toffoli pointed out signs of irregularities related to the information of social media accounts used in the campaign. According to the minister, Renan Santos and the candidate for vice president, Aroldo Medina, reported only 18 profiles in documents presented to the TSE on August 19, while the registration request had been filed on the 7th.

Toffoli determined the removal of the process from the agenda given the signs of non-compliance with electoral norms. The legislation requires that candidates inform, in the registration, the electronic addresses used for propaganda.

According to TSE rules, already existing profiles that have not been declared can only be used in the campaign 48 hours after being registered with the Electoral Justice.
