At the Left Bloc's rentrée, the party leader presented two main proposals for the country. The first consists of doubling the additional property tax (IMI), known as the "Mortágua tax", which had previously been proposed by Left Bloc member Mariana Mortágua. This measure aims to increase taxation on large property owners.
The second proposal aims to ensure that Caixa Geral de Depósitos does not pass on to its customers the interest rate increases decided by the European Central Bank. This initiative is referred to as the "CGD brake" and aims to protect borrowers from the Portuguese state bank from interest rate rises.
Both proposals were announced during the Left Bloc's rentrée event, marking the party's political return after the summer vacation period. The party thus positions itself with concrete measures for national political debate.
