After the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, Eimar Sandoval and his engineering team inspected an eight-story building in Bogotá. The building had cracked walls and a practically impassable staircase, appearing condemned.
With helmets, vests, and tools, the specialists went up to the third floor to evaluate the building's columns. The team needed to verify whether the cracks were superficial or if they reached the concrete and steel of the structure.
Despite the visible damage, the columns remained firm. The building was severely damaged, but its structure withstood the earthquake.
