A "ferry" with more than 260 passengers on board capsized today off the north coast of Cyprus, causing the death of at least seven people. The accident occurred when the vessel was making a crossing with a high number of people on board.
Cypriot authorities initiated a rescue operation to try to locate survivors and assist passengers who were in the water. Emergency teams moved to the site of the sinking to provide assistance.
The number of confirmed fatalities is seven, although the toll may still be updated as rescue operations continue. The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
