Rafael Barbas, 22-year-old Portuguese cyclist, from Gonçalo, in the municipality of Guarda, signed a contract with Caja Rural – Seguros RGA for the next two seasons. This transfer represents an important milestone in the career of the young athlete, who now joins a Spanish ProTeam-level formation.
The cyclist, born in 2004, arrives at the Spanish team after four seasons competing in previous formations. The experience accumulated over these years has allowed him to develop the necessary skills to take the leap to international cycling.
Caja Rural – Seguros RGA is a professional Spanish team that competes in the ProTeam category, the second level of professional cycling worldwide. By joining this formation, Barbas will have access to more prestigious and visible races on the international calendar.
This move marks the transition of Guarda cycling to a higher level in world sport, with high expectations for the performance of the young Portuguese in his first experience in a Spanish professional team.
