The only carpenter on the island of Corvo, the Irishman David Tibor Posch, 35 years old, better known as David T.P., produces daily the traditional wooden locks typical of the island. David moved to Corvo in 2020.
Due to the fact that the mountain cedar is a species protected by law, the craftsman cannot use new wood from this tree. Thus, David reuses old trunks to keep production with the original raw material, ensuring the continuity of traditional locks.
Corvo is the most remote island of the Azores. The daily production of wooden locks by the Irish craftsman represents a local tradition that now depends on reused materials to survive.
