The Municipal Council of Lagoa guaranteed that the Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan is approved and in force since July, responding to the criticism that had been made by the PSD. The municipality thus contradicted the opposition's allegations regarding the update of the emergency plan.
The municipal executive clarified that the document is properly approved and functioning, denying any suggestion that the plan was outdated or non-existent. The defense of the plan was presented as a direct response to the criticism raised by the social-democratic party.
The PSD had been publicly questioning the state of Lagoa's Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan, suggesting that the document needed to be updated. The opposition party's position appears to have prompted the clarification now provided by the Municipal Council.
The guarantee given by the municipality comes in the context of a local political debate about preparation for emergency situations, with the council affirming that it complies with its legal obligations in matters of civil protection and that the plan has been active since July.
