Lula and Flavio intensify dispute over financial market support

The dispute over financial market support among candidates for the Presidency of Brazil has intensified. President Lula decided to seek closer ties with the sector after Senator Flavio Bolsonaro met with bankers and businessmen from Faria Lima, in São Paulo.

In response, Lula is expected to host a dinner on Monday for influential people in the financial market. Among the guests are brothers Joesley and Wesley Batista, from J&F, and Rubens Ometto, from Cosan.

In the assessment of political scientist Henrique Hellas, both candidates seek to consolidate financial market support, but compete for the same space by seeking dialogue with the same people.

The Batista brothers, for example, have already met with members of Flavio Bolsonaro's campaign, demonstrating that the financial sector has become a battlefield between the two candidates for the Palacio do Planalto.
