Venezuela's interim President, Delcy Rodríguez, guaranteed that the country maintains control and sovereignty over its oil resources, despite the agreement signed with Washington. Her statements were made in a speech broadcast on Venezuelan public television on Saturday.
Rodríguez emphasized the need to make "absolutely clear" that Venezuela maintains property and sovereignty over its natural resources, thus responding to previous statements by US President Donald Trump.
The conflict arose after Trump announced on Friday information that contradicted the Venezuelan position on the oil agreement. The issue arises in the context of bilateral relations between Venezuela and the United States and the control of the energy resources of the South American country.
