Teatro Lethes in Faro resumes its performance season on Thursday with a concert by the Orquestra do Algarve, beginning a programming that runs until December and includes theater, dance, music, opera and cinema. The new season opens with the concert "Clássicos ma non troppo" and closes on December 12 with the traditional Christmas Concert by the Associação Filarmónica de Faro.
The Algarve Theater Company (ACTA), responsible for the venue's programming, highlights the Solidarity Concert on September 26, promoted by the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International, featuring baritone Äneas Humm. Other programming highlights include the premiere of "Alfaiate" on October 9, based on a story by Helena Tapadinhas with direction by Luís Vicente, and Ana Arrebentinha's show "Muito Faço Eu" on October 17.
The programming also includes the Scianema environmental film showcase on November 21 and, on December 11, the dance performance "La gata que quería cambiar la historia" by the Spanish company Thomas Noone Dance. Throughout the three months, the theater will host proposals from different artistic areas, reinforcing the city's cultural diversity.
Opened in 1845, Teatro Lethes is considered one of the most emblematic and oldest operating theaters in Portugal. The name refers to the mythological Greek river associated with forgetting and the transformative power of theater. ACTA manages the venue's programming and operations by delegation from the Faro City Council, with artistic and programming autonomy.
