More than 120 operatives are fighting a fire consuming vegetation in the area of Mirandela, in the district of Bragança. The operation on the ground includes land and aerial resources to control the flames that have been spreading through the region's vegetation.
The fire occurs in a context of high rural fire risk in mainland Portugal. This Tuesday, around 60 municipalities in 10 districts of the mainland are at maximum fire danger, which represents the most severe alert level.
Authorities are reinforcing combat and surveillance resources to address not only the Mirandela fire but also other outbreaks that may arise due to adverse weather conditions.
Maximum rural fire danger is associated with high temperatures, low humidity and wind, conditions that facilitate the spread of flames and hinder the work of firefighters on the ground.
