"The Algarve that still does not exist: the 10 urgent transformations" is the theme of a debate that will take place on October 2nd, at 6:30 PM, at the auditorium of CCDR Algarve, in Faro, with a planned duration of 1h30. The session will be moderated by Cláudio Lima, president of DRAlgarve, and features the participation of Professor João Duque, who will address ten structurally transformative changes for the region. The debate will also include a reflection on the contribution of the business economic fabric, public entities and the region's inhabitants to the achievement of these transformations.
Participation in the event is free, but subject to mandatory prior registration. The initiative is organized by the Regional Delegation of the Algarve of the Order of Economists, within the conference cycle "Conversations with the Order".
João Duque is Full Professor at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon since 2003. He was president of this institution between 2009 and 2014 and, more recently, between 2022 and 2026. He is also a weekly columnist in the newspaper Expresso, participates in the program "As 3 da Manhã" on Rádio Renascença and is an economics commentator on SIC Notícias.
In addition to his academic and media activity, João Duque is a member of the Audit Committee of the European Investment Bank, chairs the Remuneration Committee of REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais, is an alternate member of the Supervisory Board of Novabase and serves on the Board of the Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation.
