A memorial was inaugurated today at Hospital de Leiria to perpetuate the memory of the passage of depression Kristin through the Leiria region in January. The memorial is represented by a torn-out root, symbolizing the destructive force of the storm that severely hit the area.
The main objective of this memorial is twofold: on one hand, it aims to preserve the memory of this significant meteorological event, and on the other, it pays tribute to the professionals of the Local Health Unit (ULS) who worked during the crisis.
Depression Kristin caused severe impacts in the Leiria region during the month of January, resulting in considerable material damage and affecting the local population. The creation of this memorial recognizes the effort and dedication of the health professionals who responded to the emergency.
The torn-out root, the central element of the memorial, serves as a physical symbol of the violence of the storm and the marks left by this event on the community.
