The Collado group will perform for the first time in Porto on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the Biodiversity Gallery – Centro Ciência Viva, which is installed in the Botanical Garden of the University of Porto, at Rua do Campo Alegre, 1191. The concert is part of the Porto Sounds Secret cycle, promoted by Ágora – Cultura e Desporto do Porto, which presents music in unusual spaces around the city. Doors open at 5:30 PM and entry is free, limited to the venue's capacity, with no advance reservation announced.
Os Collado are an octet formed by eight musicians from different parts of the Iberian Peninsula, united by their common interest in traditional music. The project was born from the initiative of Javi Collado, a musician from Cuenca, who during the covid-19 pandemic decided to transform the relationships built in Iberian traditional music gatherings into a concrete project. In January 2021, the eight musicians came together to develop the repertoire that gave rise to the first album, "A los cuatro vientos", followed by "Si vas al baile" in 2024.
Among the eight members is the Porto singer Teresa Melo Campos, who brings to the group a strong connection to Portuguese traditional music. Teresa studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, is part of the international collective Çhâñt Élečtrónïqùe and is cofounder of Sopa de Pedra, a female vocal group dedicated to collecting and reinterpreting Portuguese music of traditional roots. She also directs the project "Porto da gente, Porto presente", dedicated to reinterpreting the musical tradition of the city.
The concert brings together voices, traditional percussion such as adufes, pandeiretas, spoons and drums, string instruments such as five-string violin, jarana and leona, as well as bagpipe, flute, guitar and electric bass. The group does not rigidly separate vocalists, instrumentalists and rhythm section, since everyone sings and participates in percussion, creating a communal sound that crosses repertoires from different regions of the Iberian Peninsula and experiences from jazz, rock, classical music and electronic music.
