The Vinha and Wine Festival of Borba returns in 2026 with a new format and with the objective of reinforcing the connection of the event to the promotion of the vineyard, wine and the wine-growing identity of the municipality. This year's edition will be inaugurated on November 11, with the main novelty being the holding of part of the activities in the city center, leaving behind the Events Pavilion. The president of the Municipality of Borba, Pedro Esteves, shared this information in statements to Rádio Campanário.
The mayor explained that the change is based on two main objectives: to bring the event closer to the population, taking it to the city center, and to increase the number of exhibitors linked to the wine sector. During Thursday and Friday of the festival, all activity should take place within the city, with the Municipality Square being the most likely location. The alteration also aims to bring more visitors to the center of Borba, creating greater movement around local commerce and contributing to boosting the economy.
The Vinha and Wine Festival was born from the strong relationship of Borba with wine production, an activity that plays a central role in the economic, cultural and social identity of the municipality. Over the years, the event has become a space for the promotion of Borba wines, producers and traditions associated with the vineyard, but also a showcase of products and Alentejo gastronomy, contributing to give visibility to Borba as a destination associated with wine-growing culture.
The 2026 edition will be the first organized by the current municipal executive. Pedro Esteves highlighted that the objective is to recover and enhance the genesis of the event, placing wine back at the center of the programming. Regarding the musical program, the mayor chose not to reveal, for now, the names of the artists that will be part of the lineup.
