The Rinchoa Folk and Cultural Group – Sintra promotes on Saturday, September 19, its 42nd Folk Festival at the Auditorium of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Paz, in Rio de Mouro. Entry is free and the program starts at 20h30 with a parade of the participating groups through the streets of the parish, followed by the official start of the festival at 21h00.
In addition to the host group, groups from four other regions of the country are participating in this edition: the Grupo de Bombos das Mercês, from Sintra, the Rancho Folclórico Serra do Ceira, from Góis, the Grupo de Danças e Cantares Montes da Senhora, from Proença-a-Nova, and the Rancho Folclórico e Etnográfico da Casa do Povo de Maçãs, from Leiria.
The initiative aims to bring together groups from different regions of Portugal, promoting the dissemination of traditions, dances, songs and costumes that make up Portuguese popular cultural heritage. The festival is organized by the Rinchoa Folk and Cultural Group – Sintra, with the support of the Junta de Freguesia de Rio de Mouro and the Municipality of Sintra, among other entities.
