A citizen of Moldovan nationality was detained on September 10 in Serpa, following a formal international detention request for extradition issued by the Moldovan authorities, the regional Attorney General's Office of Évora reported.
The detention was carried out by the Republican National Guard (GNR) and aims to ensure compliance with a prison sentence for facts that may constitute the crime of theft.
The detainee was subsequently brought before the Évora Court of Appeal, where he was heard on September 14, 2026. Following a recommendation from the Public Prosecutor's Office, the court determined that the Moldovan citizen remain in custody while the further proceedings of the extradition process continue.
The decision remains in effect until the conclusion of the judicial proceedings regarding the extradition request submitted by the Moldovan authorities.
