Event from GLOBO and Valor debates the Northeast's advance as a digital hub

oglobo15 September 2026 at 12:00

The Northeast has been advancing as a pole for attracting large-scale data centers, driven by abundant clean energy and competitive costs. This expansion, however, brings with it issues that involve everything from the energy transition to regional development.

The newspapers O GLOBO and Valor Econômico promote, this Tuesday, in Fortaleza, the debate "The Northeast as the digital hub of the future." The event is part of the Energy Transition project, an initiative of the two media outlets, with sponsorship from mining company Vale.

The meeting brings together government representatives, executives, and specialists to discuss the connection between energy and technological transitions, the role of public policies, and opportunities for sustainable regional development. The transmission can be watched live on O GLOBO's YouTube channel.

The event features two discussion panels, the first with the theme "Clean energy as the foundation of digital industrialization," which addresses precisely the relationship between the region's clean energy matrix and the expansion of digital infrastructure.

Why this matters

The article is relevant for readers in the region because it details an event that discusses the Northeast's role as a technological hub, a theme that directly affects local economic development, job creation, and regional infrastructure. The coverage addresses practical issues about clean energy and public policies that impact Northeastern communities.
