The idealista data for the second quarter of 2026 shows that Vila Viçosa, in the district of Évora, is the only Alentejo municipality that stands out simultaneously in the demand for houses to rent and buy. The housing market in the region continues to present values significantly lower than those recorded in the main urban centers of the country, although there are considerable differences between Alentejo municipalities.
In renting, Vila Viçosa presents a median rent of 500 euros per month, being the most sought-after municipality in the district of Évora. In the same region, Campo Maior, in the district of Portalegre, appears with the lowest value among all municipalities analyzed: 462 euros per month. Moura, in the district of Beja, presents a median rent of 600 euros per month.
In the purchase market, Vila Viçosa records a median price of 123 thousand euros, while Alter do Chão, in the district of Portalegre, presents 91,096 euros. Barrancos, in Beja, stands out with the lowest value: 55 thousand euros. These values contrast with the 404,362 euros of Sobral de Monte Agraço, in the district of Lisbon, and the 1,822 euros monthly rent in Albufeira, in the Algarve.
Only three Portuguese municipalities stand out simultaneously in demand for renting and buying: Vila Viçosa, Marinha Grande (Leiria) and Moita (Setúbal). The analysis shows that the Alentejo region continues to present some of the lowest values in the country in the real estate sector, with differences exceeding 349 thousand euros between the extremes of the purchase market.
