Águas do Vale do Tejo launched a public tender with a base price of 1.35 million euros to carry out burst repair work and other interventions in the water supply network serving seven municipalities in the district of Évora. The procedure covers the municipalities of Alandroal, Borba, Évora, Mourão, Portel, Redondo and Reguengos de Monsaraz, bringing together in a single contract interventions in different subsystems of the Évora Pole.
The work provides for the repair of bursts in pipes, including civil construction work associated with the infrastructure and interventions in valves and other control devices necessary to maintain the operating conditions of the network. The interventions cover a mains network of approximately 400 kilometres, distributed across the different supply subsystems of the region.
The initial duration of the work is set at 12 months, with the contract renewable for two more periods of equal duration, up to a maximum of three years. The planned model will allow for responding to bursts and other intervention needs that arise during the contract period, including situations that require faster action to keep the infrastructure operational.
The procedure is not divided into lots and does not benefit from European Union funding. The work comes in a context where infrastructure maintenance, reducing losses and the efficiency of supply systems are particularly important in the Alentejo, a region where the availability and management of water resources constitute structural challenges.
