The population of Abrigada, Marés and Ota is protesting against the location of a biomethane plant in the municipality of Alenquer. The residents contest the decision to install this facility in their region and are concerned about the consequences for the community.
The biomethane plant represents an investment of 20.5 million euros. The project is currently awaiting environmental licensing in order to proceed, which has generated even more concern among the inhabitants of the affected parishes.
The residents argue that the chosen location is not suitable for this type of industrial facility. The local populations have been organizing to express their opposition to the project and pressure authorities to reconsider the decision.
