Águas do Vale do Tejo will invest 1.35 million euros in a project aimed at strengthening the maintenance and response capacity of the water supply network in seven municipalities in the district of Évora. The public tender covers the municipalities of Alandroal, Borba, Évora, Mourão, Portel, Redondo and Reguengos de Monsaraz, allowing action to be taken at different points of the raw water system whenever situations that may compromise the normal operation of the network are identified. The contract will have an initial duration of 12 months, which may be extended for two more periods of equal duration, up to a maximum of three years.
The infrastructure covered is significant, with approximately 400 kilometers of pipelines, of which about 380 are currently in operation. The intervention area includes the subsystems of Monte Novo, Alandroal, Luz, Borba, Granja, Portel, São Brás de Regedouro, Vigia and Graça do Divor. Among the situations identified are two suspended sections in the municipality of Redondo, located on the bridges over the streams of Moitas and Sapatôa, both with a length exceeding 250 meters.
The project will allow various works to be carried out, including repair of bursts, replacement of network components and construction of structures for the control and operation of the pipelines. The installation of boxes for washout and isolation valves is planned, as well as the replacement of valves, air valves, branch lines and air valve markers. The procedure also contemplates the possibility of intervention on sections up to 150 meters in length in situations of greater severity, upon determination by Águas do Vale do Tejo.
The contract also provides for the carrying out of surveys to identify leaks or bursts, namely when it is not immediately possible to determine their location or origin. With this project, Águas do Vale do Tejo intends to ensure a faster response to occurrences in the network and maintain the supply infrastructure in adequate operating conditions in the seven municipalities covered.
