A strong tornado hit the city of Wanning, located in Hainan province, in southern China, on Monday. The meteorological phenomenon caused significant damage at a local school, knocking down a large number of trees at the educational establishment.
The local meteorological department confirmed that the phenomenon was classified as a tornado, with an estimated speed of about 30 meters per second. This speed indicates a moderate to strong tornado, capable of causing considerable material damage.
Hainan province, located on the southern coast of China, is not frequently associated with tornadoes, making this event particularly notable. Local authorities have not reported any casualties or injuries resulting from the incident.
