A new restriction on heavy vehicle circulation on the VCI (Inner Beltway) came into effect today, with the aim of reducing congestion on this route. The measure applies to goods vehicles that present specific characteristics of weight, configuration, and dimensions.
The affected vehicles are those with a gross weight exceeding 3,500 kilograms, equipped with at least three axles and with a height equal to or greater than 1.1 meters, measured vertically from the first axle. This combination of criteria defines which heavy vehicles are prohibited from circulating on the VCI during the restriction period.
The implementation of this measure comes in response to the traffic problems that frequently affect this route, where the high number of heavy vehicles contributes to congestion, especially during peak hours. The authorities thus intend to流疏导 part of the heavy traffic to other alternative routes.
