Albergaria-a-Velha launches Municipal Education Agenda with 98 initiatives

NotíciasdeAveiro.pt15 September 2026 at 00:04

The Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha launched the 2026/27 edition of the Municipal Education Agenda, which includes 98 initiatives between activities and projects aimed at children, young people and other members of the educational community. The agenda values childhood and youth as crucial stages of human development, promoting the territory and public space as places of learning and growth.

This edition gives special emphasis to playfulness as a strategy for enhancing development and learning. Catarina Mendes, Councilor for Education, highlighted that playing outdoors, occupying public spaces, exploring nature and creating positive memories are fundamental for a healthy and happy childhood.

Among the projects promoting academic success, the APPRENDER@SER stands out, developed under PIPSE – the Intermunicipal Program for the Promotion of Academic Success in the Aveiro Region. This project promotes the inclusion of students through a multidisciplinary team composed of speech therapist, social worker and psychologist, which works with students identified by schools and the C.A.M. assessments, including early detection, referral to specialized services and promotion of digital literacy, in partnership with schools, CPCJ and other local entities.

Albergaria-a-Velha is a municipality recognized by UNICEF as a Child-Friendly City, a distinction that reinforces the commitment to public policies aimed at children's well-being and rights. The Municipal Education Agenda is available on the Municipality's website.

Why this matters

The residents of Albergaria-a-Velha directly benefit from these 98 educational initiatives that cover children and young people in the municipality, with special focus on promoting academic success and holistic development through play. The APPRENDER@SER project offers specialized support to identified students, while the recognition as a Child-Friendly City by UNICEF confirms the municipal commitment to public policies aimed at children's rights and well-being.
