An international team of researchers developed an injectable hydrogel capable of minimizing the side effects of cancer treatments. This hydrogel allows chemotherapy to be concentrated directly in the tumor, reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
Two Portuguese researchers are part of this development team. The treatment shows particular potential for solid tumors, including ovarian, brain, breast and pancreatic cancers.
