Guimarães hosted a conference dedicated to the economy, competitiveness and green transition, organized with the aim of debating the transformation towards a low-carbon economy as a process of business innovation and competitiveness. The event addressed topics such as productivity, talent, technological transformation, energy, decarbonization, internationalization and investment attraction.
The conference featured Ricardo Araújo, president of Guimarães Municipal Council, who opened the event. The study "The economy of Guimarães: trajectory, state and destination" was presented, developed by University of Minho researchers Francisco Carballo-Cruz and João Cerejeira.
This was followed by a round table titled "The next economy," which brought together Ricardo Araújo, João Cerejeira, Célia Cruz (cofounder of Complear), Miguel Rodrigues (executive director of the UT Austin Portugal Program) and Joana Santos Silva, from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics.
The program concluded with the presentation of Green Academy, an initiative of the Landscape Laboratory coordinated by Susana Costa, aimed at supporting businesses in sustainable transition, and with an intervention by João Rui Ferreira, Secretary of State for the Economy.
