The chairman and partner of BTG Pactual, André Esteves, stated on Monday that the institutional aspect of the country concerns him more than the economic or fiscal challenge at the current moment. For him, the economic issue is easier to resolve by the newly elected president because it already has well-defined formulas, paths, and international references.
Esteves warned that losing the institutional battle could place Brazil at a level comparable to Mexico and Russia. He argued that society and the productive sector cannot lose this institutional war, because if they do, the country would go to a place between those two countries.
The executive emphasized the close connection between the fiscal and institutional dimensions, believing they cannot be completely separated. He stressed that the institutional level is the main battle at present, and that Brazil, despite facing various problems and challenges, still outperforms countries like Mexico and Russia.
