The "Fruit Heroes" program recorded a significant increase in the number of children in the Algarve who bring healthy snacks to school. In the 26 classes analyzed, the indicator of children with healthy snacks rose from 66.3% to 85.3% over just five weeks.
The study sample included 543 children from nine municipalities in the Algarve region. This result represents a growth of 19 percentage points in the adoption of healthier eating habits among participating students.
The "Fruit Heroes" program is an initiative dedicated to promoting healthy eating among children, encouraging the consumption of fruits and other nutritious foods from an early age. The results achieved demonstrate the effectiveness of this type of intervention in changing eating behaviors among young people.
