Uavision, a company based in Torres Vedras, will invest up to five million euros in Viseu over three years to develop HAPS (High Altitude Pseudo Satellite), an unmanned high-altitude aeronautical system. The company's administrator and founder, Nuno Simões, stated that the total project investment is around 10 million euros, with the Viseu investment being phased, starting with up to two million euros in the first year.
The project will be installed at Aeródromo Municipal Gonçalves Lobato, where the Municipality of Viseu has transferred approximately two thousand square meters to the company. In the first year, a hangar will be built and training activities will be carried out in partnership with Instituto Piaget. Nuno Simões explained that the choice of Viseu is due, among other factors, to the quality of the airfield's runway, which will allow developing and testing the systems in the same location.
Uavision expects to initially create between 10 to 20 jobs, with the possibility of expansion. The administrator highlighted that the company intends to train and adapt local workers, rather than seeking to bring people from outside. The company produces aircraft command and control systems, electronic systems, metalworking and composites, intending to manufacture part of the aircraft in Viseu.
The mayor of Viseu, João Azevedo, described the company as "highly qualified" and highlighted that the investment fulfills a promise made during the election campaign, linking it to the commitment to young, technological and innovative employment. Nuno Simões also expressed special satisfaction with the investment, given that his family origins are from the district, from the municipality of Mortágua.
