The Socialist Party (PS) councilors' team in Guimarães City Council announced today their abstention from voting on the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) revision. This position marks a break with the municipal executive led by Ricardo Araújo.
The socialist councilors accused the municipality's president of "inconsistency," arguing that he changed his political position after the elections. This accusation arises in the context of an apparent contradiction between what he advocated before assuming leadership of the municipality and his current actions.
In a political statement, the socialist council members recalled that in September 2025, while a councilor in opposition, Ricardo Araújo had taken a different position on the matter that is now again under discussion within the scope of the PDM revision.
