Fire from Póvoa de Lanhoso has already reached Vieira do Minho

Observador14 September 2026 at 13:08

A wildfire that started in Póvoa de Lanhoso has spread to the neighboring municipality of Vieira do Minho. The fire is affecting this area of the Braga district, representing a prolonged combat situation between municipalities.

On the ground there are 93 operatives supported by 26 ground vehicles. These ground resources are joined by seven aerial resources, which are being used for combat and support operations to suppress the flames.

The fire presents two active propagation fronts. One of these fronts has already been contained by the authorities, being under control, while the other remains active and demands significant efforts from the combat resources.

Why this matters

Readers in the Braga region are directly affected by this fire that has already exceeded municipal boundaries, with risks to homes, forest and agricultural activities. The presence of aerial resources and the fact that there are two active fronts indicate a situation still in evolution that requires vigilance.
