The Municipality of Viana do Castelo celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27 with a diverse program. The local authority promoted several free activities to celebrate the date, encouraging both residents and visitors to discover the local heritage.
On that Sunday, those interested could enjoy free entry to various cultural spaces in the municipality. Among the locations included in the initiative were the Museu do Traje, the Museu de Artes Decorativas, and the Citânia de Santa Luzia, allowing cost-free access to these cultural landmarks of the region.
In addition to the museums, users also benefited from free rides on the Santa Luzia Elevator, one of the main tourist attractions in the city. This infrastructure provides a connection between the lower city and the hill of Santa Luzia, where the sanctuary and panoramic views over the municipality are located.
The celebrations program ran from September 21 to 27, covering the entire week before World Tourism Day, with activities that sought to boost the local tourism sector and promote the heritage resources of Viana do Castelo.
