The NIAVE – Nucleus for the Investigation and Support of Specific Victims – of the Castelo Branco Territorial Command of the Republican National Guard investigated a total of 163 crimes related to domestic violence and abuse during the first half of 2026. This number represents the cases monitored by this specialized unit in the Castelo Branco district.
The nucleus's main mission is the protection of victims of these crimes, providing specific support to people in situations of vulnerability. The work of NIAVE includes criminal investigation and the follow-up of victims throughout the process.
This activity falls within the framework of combating one of the forms of criminality that the GNR considers a priority. The Castelo Branco Territorial Command continues to pursue its mission of investigating and supporting victims of domestic violence and abuse in the region.
