Principal Itinerary 3 (IP3) will be closed to traffic during the nights of September 15, 16, and 17, between 21:00 and 05:00, in the municipality of Tondela, Viseu district. Infraestruturas de Portugal reported that the temporary closures are necessary for carrying out widening work and construction of engineering structures as part of the IP3 requalification and duplication contract.
The works are specifically taking place between the junctions of Canas de Santa Maria and São Miguel de Outeiro, on the section between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu. During the closure period, traffic will be diverted via the old National Road 2 (EN2), in both directions, with locations properly signposted.
The interventions include the placement of temporary and vertical signage, execution of road markings, and installation of rigid concrete barriers, with the aim of improving traffic conditions on the road.
The duplication and requalification project for the IP3 section between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu covers a length of 27.5 kilometres, with an investment of approximately 103 million euros. The requalification of the section between the Penacova junction, in Coimbra district, and the bridge over the Dão river, in the Santa Comba Dão area, has already been completed.
