More than 50 municipalities at maximum fire danger
Seven districts in mainland Portugal face maximum rural fire danger. Castelo Branco, Guarda, Coimbra, Santarém, Leiria, Portalegre and Faro are the districts most affected by the extreme risk situation.
Maximum temperatures are expected to vary between 28 and 38 degrees Celsius in various regions of the country. This intense heat contributes to worsening fire danger conditions.
Authorities are warning about the very high risk of spread of rural fires in these areas, requesting special attention from the population to prevention measures and the prohibition of controlled burns or other activities that may trigger fires.
