The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) issued an alert recommending precautions to the population due to the presence of dust from North Africa. The suspended particles represent a health risk, especially for more vulnerable groups.
The dust will affect the entire southern region of the country. The most directly impacted regions will be Lisbon and Tagus Valley, Alentejo and the Algarve.
The phenomenon is expected for this Monday and Tuesday, coinciding with the first days of the week. DGS recommends that the population take protective measures, especially those suffering from chronic respiratory diseases.
