The academic year effectively began in Beira, in the district of Castelo Branco, with the reception of thousands of students and parents at the public school network in the municipality. This Monday marked the first in-person contact with classes, form tutors, and schedules, after the welcome sessions for the teaching staff held the previous week.
The school start covers the four school groupings in the district: the Afonso de Paiva School Grouping, the Amato Lusitano School Grouping, the Nuno Álvares School Grouping, and the José Sanches and São Vicente da Beira School Grouping, based in Alcains. In each establishment, staggered meetings were organized to avoid overcrowding of common areas, with sessions for parents both in the morning and afternoon.
School administrations are focused on internal pedagogical organization, welcoming new students — especially those entering primary education or secondary school — and distributing support materials. In parallel, final teacher placement procedures are underway to ensure complete teaching of curriculum frameworks, with ongoing communication with the central services of the education administration to resolve any scheduling gaps.
The Municipality of the district of Castelo Branco is responsible for managing logistical support and social school support services, having activated from early morning the school transport network and canteens under municipal management. The coordination between local authorities and school leadership aims to guarantee that canteen and extended hours services operate in compliance with current regulations.
