The Municipality of Lagos is once again joining the European Mobility Week, running from September 16 to 22, 2026. During the seven days of the initiative, the A ONDA municipal transport network, comprising 10 lines serving all parishes in the municipality, will be free to encourage public transport use. The program also includes informative sessions for middle school students on using transport for home-to-school journeys.
The program includes various activities such as walks, bike rides, night marches, and functional training. On September 19, Artur de Jesus and Francisco Castelo lead a guided tour on the evolution of Lagos's urban space. The night before, a Regional Night March is held in partnership with the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, with three routes adapted to different mobility levels.
The parishes of Barão de São João, Bensafrim, Luz, and Odiáxere join the program with activities including heritage walks, bike rides, horse riding activities, and Zumba. The European Mobility Week also features participation from the municipal company Lagos-em-Forma, the Lagos Skate Association, school groups, Lagos Living Science Centre, and several commercial businesses.
