PHOLE, the musical project by João Gigante, will perform at Casino Afifense on September 19 at 9:30 PM, in a trio concert that brings together concertina, percussion, and electric bass. This performance takes place in one of the most significant rooms in the cultural history of Viana do Castelo, the city where the project originated.
With over a decade of existence, initially as a solo project, PHOLE has been exploring the possibilities of the concertina, drawing from memory and the relationship with the places and stories that accompany João Gigante's journey. The current lineup features João Gigante on concertina, Vítor Lima on percussion, and Jaime Alvarez on electric bass.
Throughout its journey, PHOLE has performed at various venues and festivals across the country, including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Museum, Serralves – Autumn Festival, Bons Sons Festival, and this year at Festival Instrumental Portugal. The concert at Casino Afifense promises to be a musical journey that explores the dialogue between memory and transformation.
