A group of ex-ministers from the FH, Lula and Dilma administrations, accompanied by jurists, economists, businessmen and civil society leaders, sent on Sunday a letter of support to the president of the Supreme Federal Court, Edson Fachin. The document expresses full support for the measures adopted by Fachin to preserve the authority of the STF and promote a rigorous and impartial investigation of the very serious accusations that came to light in recent weeks, always respecting due legal process.
The letter states that the STF "cannot allow its jurisdiction to be captured by sinister interests, of a personal, political or economic nature, that threaten our constitutional democracy." The text highlights the need to protect the institution from external influences that may compromise its independence.
Among the ex-ministers who signed the document are Pedro Malan, José Carlos Dias and Miguel Reale Jr. from the FH administration, Paulo Vannuchi from the Lula administration and José Eduardo Cardozo from the Dilma administration. The letter is also subscribed to by economists André Lara Resende, Persio Arida, Edmar Bacha and Arminio Fraga, as well as jurists such as Oswaldo.
