Iran and the United Arab Emirates expressed today the intention to "turn the page and look to the future," after a period of tensions in their bilateral relations. The statement was made by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, after meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan.
The encounter took place in India, on the sidelines of the BRICS leaders' summit, a bloc that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This was the first constructive conversation between the two countries since the war and the incidents that happened in the Gulf.
Pezeshkian stated that the dialogue represents a significant step toward reconciliation between Tehran and Abu Dhabi, after years of tense relations in the Persian Gulf region.
