Benfica beat Gil Vicente 3-1 in a comeback match played at home, in the sixth round of the league. The Barcelos team opened the scoring at seven minutes, but the encarnados managed to turn the result around and secure all three points.
The highlight of the match belonged to Greek striker Pavlidis, who scored twice. The player scored at 29 minutes and converted a penalty at 88 minutes, reaching eight goals in the current edition of the Portuguese league.
The result was sealed in stoppage time, at 90+3 minutes, when Argentine Prestianni scored Benfica's third goal, sealing his team's victory.
With this result, Benfica stays two points behind FC Porto, their main rival for the title. The two teams will face each other in the next round, in a match that could be decisive for the championship race.
