Beira-Mar fail to go beyond a draw at home against Castro Daire (1-1)

NotíciasdeAveiro.pt13 September 2026 at 17:05

Beira-Mar drew this Sunday at home against Castro Daire 1-1, in a match of the fourth round of the Campeonato de Portugal, Series 2. The Aveiro side continues without a win this season, already adding their third draw in the competition. The result was considered a reward for the visitors, who returned home with a point.

The Beira-Mar coach made three changes to the starting eleven compared to the previous match. André Motta, who was converted from centre-back to right-back, Ibrahima (first start) and Sana Mané took the places of Tiago Melo (suspended), João de Sá (not called up) and Igor Santos (on the bench).

The home team started well and dominated the early chances, with Gustavo Almeida creating danger at 15 minutes. The away goal came against the run of play for the locals, at 58 minutes, when Marcel finished a counter-attack on the right practically unopposed, taking advantage of the advanced Aveiro defence.

Beira-Mar managed the equaliser at 75 minutes, through a header by Tomás Sério, following a cross from Didi on the right, from a corner on the left. David Oliveira had two headers that hit the post during the match. Julián Perez and Mendy made their debuts as used substitutes.

Why this matters

Beira-Mar fans and supporters are directly affected, as the Aveiro team continues without a win after four rounds of the Campeonato de Portugal, which fuels concerns about the start of the season. The result is also relevant for readers in the Aveiro region interested in the performance of local teams in national amateur football competitions.
