Grêmio officially announced the dismissal of Portuguese coach Luís Castro and his technical staff on Sunday afternoon. The Gaucho club thanked the professionals for their work and wished them success in the continuation of their careers.
The dismissal comes after the comeback defeat to Vasco, played on Saturday in Porto Alegre. Grêmio has not won in five matches in the Brazilian Championship, with four losses and one draw.
The team will be led on an interim basis by Luís Felipe Scolari, who is also the club's technical coordinator, in the match against Botafogo next Wednesday, at Nilton Santos Stadium. The game is valid for the 21st round of the Brasileirão.
With 28 points, Grêmio occupies 15th position in the Brasileirão table, the same points as Vasco and Internacional, which are in the relegation zone.
