Last Friday, the ship "Rebecca S" from GS Lines, belonging to Grupo Sousa, collided at Porto Santo port. The accident occurred around 1 PM, when the ship was entering the shelter port of what is known as the "Golden Island".
The accident was due to the poor condition of the port's fenders. These structures are essential to protect ships and port infrastructure during docking maneuvers.
The ship, which supplies the island, had originated from Caniçal and entered the port with the help of a tugboat and a pilot. This vessel is responsible for supplying goods and essential items to Porto Santo.
