Motorcycle rider dies after being shot by Military Police during approach in Icaraí, in Niterói

A 26-year-old motorcycle rider died after being shot during a police approach on Rua Mariz e Barros, in Icaraí, Niterói, on Saturday night (12). According to the State Military Police Secretariat, agents from the Niterói Presente program were patrolling the region when they tried to approach the motorcycle rider, who allegedly disobeyed the stop order.

During the approach, one of the police officers fired a shot. The motorcycle rider was hit in the head and rescued by the Fire Department, being taken to Hospital Estadual Azevedo Lima, but could not resist his injuries.

The police officer responsible for the shot was arrested and taken to a prison unit of the corporation. The Military Police Internal Affairs is following the case and investigating the circumstances of the episode.
