The president of the Confederation of Commerce and Services of Portugal (CCP), Gustavo Paulo Duarte, defended in an interview with Antena 1 and JdN that it is possible to reach an agreement on labor reform within the scope of social dialogue, provided it includes measures that "truly matter." According to the CCP leader, the rejected labor reform is not the only one that exists, and both workers and businesses want improvements in conditions.
Gustavo Paulo Duarte considered that the negotiation of the labor reform was an example of what should not be done, arguing that all parties should sit at the table and dialogue about the measures, rather than the Government presenting them and the other parties merely discussing them. The CCP leader also stated that the reform should cover all sectors of activity, exemplifying that the Government's proposal did not solve the problems in the transport sector.
