PSP carries out awareness actions for children with Safe School team

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes13 September 2026 at 10:47

The Vila Real District Command of the PSP, through the Vila Real Police Station and the Safe School Program team, has been promoting various awareness actions and equipment demonstrations under the "Police Always Present – Safe Summer" operation. The initiatives are aimed at children and combine learning and fun, using pedagogical materials and the stories from the "I Do As Falco Says" project, under the motto "With Falco, safer holidays".

At the Professor Joca Study Center, children were made aware of the behaviors to adopt if they get lost or are approached by strangers. The session also included information about the "I'm Here Children" program, which allows for easier identification and contact with minors who are found lost.

The "I'm Here Children" program is intended for children aged two to 15 and provides a bracelet free of charge through the PSP. The program edition is annual, running from January 1st to December 31st.

With these actions, the PSP reinforces its commitment to prevention and community policing, promoting safe behaviors and a relationship of trust with the Police from childhood.

Why this matters

Families in Vila Real and surrounding areas directly benefit from these awareness actions, which teach children to adopt safe behaviors during summer holidays. Parents can also join the "I'm Here Children" program to obtain a free identification bracelet for their children, contributing to greater child safety. This PSP initiative is part of a broader prevention and community policing strategy in the region.
